Round 1 matchups, tournament matchups, top finishing positions, and some prop picks for the 2021 Waste Management Phoenix Open from TPC Scottsdale.

This tournament is certainly going to be a bit different this year without fans.

Finishing Position

  • Top 20: Justin Thomas (-200)
  • Top 30: Will Zalatoris (-110)
  • Top 40: Rickie Fowler (-125)
  • Top 40: Max Homa (+120)

Round 1 Matchups

Byeong Hun An v. Will Zalatoris: Will Zalatoris (-112)

Hun An actually plays really well here finishing 9th, 20, 23rd, and 6th over the last 4 years, but I’ve bought into the Zalatoris hype and like these odds.

Brooks Koepka v. Rickie Fowler: Rickie Fowler (+105)

Brooks has missed his last 3 cuts, but did win this tournament in 2015. I’m going to roll with Rickie who has been playing decent golf as of late and has a great track record here at the Waste Mgt Phoenix Open.

Max Homa v. Patton Kizzire: Max Homa (+100)

Homa has finished 18th, 21st, and 12th in his last 3 tournaments and 6th and 26th here in Phoenix. Meanwhile, Kizzire hasn’t been playing poorly by any means finishing 53rd, 7th, and 32nd in his last 3 outings, but hasn’t broken the top 30 here in Phoenix. I’ll roll with Homa, but this may be tight so consider “Tie No Bet”.

Bubba Watson v. Jason Day: Bubba Watson (-106)

Yep, Watson is the favorite today who has 5 top 5 finishes here. If Day shows up (unlike last weekend) Watson is in trouble.

Charley Hoffman v. Harry Higgs: Harry Higgs (+125)

Betting against Hoffman with 2 withdrawals in his last 2 tournaments.

Ryan Moore v. Henrik Norlander: Henrik Norlander (+110)

Norlander has been playing great golf lately with a 2nd place finish at the Farmers Insurance Open last week and a 12th place finish the week before at The American Express. Moore has missed the last 3 cuts at the Waste Mgt Phoenix Open and has also missed the cut in his last 2 tournaments, withdrew before that, missed another cut, and then DNS. Let’s hope he doesn’t decide to turn it around today.

Louis Oosthuizen v. Scottie Scheffler: Louis Oosthuizen (+105)

Oosthuizen finished 29th last week at the Farmers Insurance Open after not having played since the RSM Classic back on 11/19/20. Scheffler has missed his last 2 cuts. Both guys have only played here once. Scheffler missed the cut last year and Oosthuizen came in 3rd in 2017.

Harris English v. Jon Rahm: Jon Rahm (-137)

If for some reason I lose this one, so be it. I’ll make this bet every time.

Harris English v. Justin Thomas: Justin Thomas (-125)

I’ll make this bet every time as well. It’s nothing personal, Harris.

Matthew Wolff v. Brendan Steele: Brendan Steele (+125)

9/10 I’m taking Wolff because I really like him and he’s a talented golfer, but something is wrong with this guy. Wolff has struggled to keep the ball in the fairway in 2021 and has been terrible in strokes gained around the green at no. 218. I really hope he recovers from whatever is going on, just not today.

Not super confident in this, but I'm always good for a parlay. Throwing together Thomas, Higgs, and Norlander (+751).

Tournament Matchups

  • Zach Johnson v. Ryan Moore: Zach Johsnon (-106)
  • Scottie Scheffler v. Will Zalatoris: Will Zalatoris (-109)
  • Gary Woodland v. Sam Burns: Gary Woodland (-134)

Nationality Props

  • Top 5 American Player: Justin Thomas (+110)
  • Top 3 European Player: Henrik Norlander (+225)
  • Top South African Player: Louis Oosthuizen (+120)
