Nationality Props
Top Asian Golfer
Only 3 golfers to choose from - Hideki Matsuyama, Sungjae Im, and Byeong Hun An. While Sungjae Im did finish 11th in this tournament in 2019, Matsuyama finished 3rd and is simply the more consistent golfer (as shown by the odds). Sungjae Im has missed 3 out of his last 6 cuts where Matsuyama has missed 1. Since 2014, Matsuyama has finished this tournament in the top 25 except for 2017 where he finished 47. I'm not even considering Byeong Hun An.
Pick: Hideki Matsuyama (+105)
Tournament Matchups
Matt Kuchar v. Billy Horschel
Prior to the Northern Trust Open last week, Billy Horschel was playing some solid golf including a 2nd place finish at the Wyndham Championship. I'm going with the younger, longer hitter on a 7,366 yard course.
Pick: Billy Horschel (-110)
Louis Oosthuizen v. Kevin Na
Oosthuizen got off to a rough start when the tour kicked back off, but he appears to be back on track with a 13th place finish last week at the Northern Trust Open, a 33rd place finish in the PGA Championship and a 6th place finish at the WGC FedEx St. Jude Classic. Meanwhile, Kevin Na hasn't been playing terrible golf by any means (currently ranked 21st in FedEx Cup standings), but just nothing to write home about. He finished 39th last week and missed the cut at the PGA Championship. I see Oosthuizen carrying his solid play into the BMW Championship and the pressure of staying in the top 30 getting to Na.
Pick: Louis Oosthuizen (-110)
Best Score - Round 1
Jon Rahm v. Im Sungjai
I expect Jon Rahm to come out crushing the golf ball and win round 1 by at least a stroke or 2.
Pick: Jon Rahm (-159)
Kevin Kisner v. Viktor Hovland
Kisner has finished 4, 3, 19, and 25 in his last 4 events. Hovland is fully capable of taking today's round, but I'm going with previous experience down the stretch.
Pick: Kevin Kisner (+120)
Kevin Kisner v. Cameron Champ
I'm doubling down on Kisner. There's no question that Champ is long off the tee and that should definitely help him shoot lower on this course, but Kisner is simply the better golfer in my opinion.
Pick: Kevin Kisner (-120)
Viktor Hovland v. Cameron Champ: Viktor Hovland (-125)
While I believe it's likely Hovland loses to Kisner in round 1, I still think he comes out strong and puts up a better score than Champ. Sorry Cameron, nothing personal!
Pick: Viktor Hovland (-125)
Odds Boost
This was too good to pass up...
